Baaack

Wow, it took me forever to get back to this thing. Well I had a beautiful baby in May and she's an absolute blast. I've been pumping out a ton of stuff since then and promoting like crazy because my boyfriend lost his job and we def. need the income!

I have a big expo in Sept. that i'm excited and a little scared for, I've never done a fair or an expo! But I'm confident....mostly :D.

Well that's about it for now, and just so you all know I'm having a 10% off all purchases sale in the store right now and there's plenty of stuff under $10 and even under $5!

Love,

A Portrait of Addiction

IT CAME!!!

Fire Mountain FINALLY sent me their uber-catalog (the like 1600 page one), and let me just say...it's dangerous. It took me like 2 days-ish to get through it and I have about 100 pages dog eared :). In all honesty though it has helped the beaders block so after my midwife appt. I'll have to get crackin' on some new stuff. Usually their design ideas that are strewn throughout their catalogs are either...
A) Ridiculously time consuming/difficult
B) Ridiculously Expensive
or
C) For bead weavers/sewers

I'm no sewer/weaver or rich lady so normally they don't work...but I actually got some inspiration from these ones.

I love FM but damnit I'm going to be in debt!

Gah

I gotta admit, lately I've felt like throwing in the towel. I'm having an awesome sale (15% off all rings, also free shipping to us and canada and a free ring w/ all purchases of $15 or over), I tried Project Wonderful, I've been promoting in the chat and forums, and on facebook.....I'm worn out! Worst of all I have no sales to show for it.....I've been doing everything everyone has told me and it's just not working. This wouldn't bother me so much if I wasn't spending so much time and effort to make things work. I'll admit I've all but ignored twitter but what's the point if you have like, one follower?

I don't mean to sound like I'm saying I'm a martyr...I know sales are tough for everyone. It just sucks when I see people I know buying stuff from other shops that's similar to my stuff and I wonder 'why not me?' , especially if I'VE bought stuff from them routinely. I guess there is no 'you scratch my back I scratch yours' in the real world of business (and no FS chats don't count).

I'm thinking about setting up my website but me and Evan have no money to spare since we have to start saving for when the baby comes and he's not working for three weeks. Hopefully my interview with Cafe Handmade will bring some sales in....it's slated for April 13th, I'll post the link when it's published.

Well sorry for all the bitching but it's just so frustrating to put so much work, and money, into something that keeps failing.

(Don't forget that sale!!!!!)

I believe everything's reasonably priced but just convo me if you want to make a deal and we'll see. Please please please go check it out!!! I know you guys are bead-a-holics :D

Relaxing and Learning

This week has been rather decent. Other than a bunch of stupid stuff w/ banks. I bought some thin silver colored pewter metal sheets to do some engraving type work with. I'm totally new to it but it seemed really cool, plus it would be neat put together with polymer clay or glass.

Lately I've just wanted to start making my own components and such, it's cheaper and doing your own stuff is just more unique and rewarding I think. I bought some ring mandrels to start making my own rings from filigrees and such so that's nifty. I also got a bench block to work harden the wire stuff I've begun to dabble in. I just wish I had a garage or shed so I could try my hand at making my own glass beads.

I've started talks with a local glass maker about maybe getting some custom beads, he can do the stuff i lean towards, it's not his norm though. He said maybe we can trade stuff so we'll see where it goes.

I'm feeling quite optimistic about making more of my own components and such, but as any jewelry maker will tell you....you always need some type of equipment you don't have. Alas, that will not stop my spiral deeper into bead addiction :D

Awesome, I got my first two sales!! I'm so excited :) I know it's only two sales, but it really does make me feel good to know that I could make it in my own shop, away from the turmoil of bytwosisters.

Anyways, I posted a new ring today that I'm rather fond of...check it out!
